Control Panel Artwork

I just spent a few hours designing the artwork for my 4 player control panel. The control panel itself will be made from wood, however I am hoping I can have a lexan top as apparently lexan is as easy to cut as wood. The artwork would go between the wood and the lexan creating a scratch proof top.

Last set of arcade components

Yesterday I received my last set of components for my arcade cabinet. I had to pay £74 in custom charges as the parts came from GrooveyGameGear in the US. This shipment included all my push buttons, LEDWiz control board and arcade spinner.

The players 1-4 buttons are plain white in colour so that the RGB LED's can illuminate the controls in any colour of my choosing when the system is switched on.

The player 1-4 select buttons, admin buttons and coin buttons are clear so I can insert the relevant symbol inside, these will then be illuminated by white & red LED's respectively. The red LED's will illuminate the coin buttons and the white LED's will illuminate the player 1-4 buttons.

Decided on my custom arcade Marquee

This evening I spent half an hour in Photoshop and developed my own Marquee to go in my arcade cabinet. This is the final design I landed on.

Modified RGB LED Balltops

Today my modified Sanwa balltops arrived from Germany all ready to be fitted to my Sanwa joysticks. The arcade cabinet I plan to create will utilise RGB colour changing LED's for the Joysticks, pushbuttons and trackball. I intend to rig the LED's upto a LEDWiz control unit and run LEDBlinky to control the LED's and change colours.

First Arcade Parts

Just recently I was away in Australia on business, when I got back I was pleased to see the first set of arcade parts had arrived. The first set of parts to arrive were my Sanwa arcade joysticks from www.arcadeshop.de.

2nd Hyperspin frontend demo

My Mame arcade project

I have toyed with the idea of building a MAME arcade system ever since a colleague in the US first sent me some pics of his system. I downloaded the full Mame 0.120U rom set a few years back and played around with various frontends. At the time my sticking point was not having the tools to build a cabinet myself.

I have now decided that I don't want to wait any longer and so have taken the decision to get a cabinet built by someone else. I contacted Craig from Turnarcades and started talking to him about a 4 player slimline cabinet. I plan to use the excellent Hyperspin as the frontend for my arcade system and have spent most of the Christmas holidays getting it configurated.

I built a new PC up for my arcade system using an existing Coolermaster 220B case I had. The video below shows the PC running Hyperspin.
